What exactly is Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful (KRFB)?

Founded in 1976, KRFB is a local leader in environmental education, community action, and a proud local affiliate of the national nonprofit Keep America Beautiful (KAB). We work closely with the City of Rome and Floyd County governments to inspire positive change through four core pillars: Litter Reduction, Beautification, Education, and Community Engagement.

I want to organize a cleanup with my neighborhood, church group, or civic club. Can KRFB help?

Absolutely—we love supporting community-led efforts! We feature a Litter Kit Library where local groups can check out free cleanup supplies. We will provide you with high-visibility vests, trash grabbers, gloves, and garbage bags to ensure your group stays safe and fully equipped.

Where does all the litter on our streets end up if it isn’t picked up?

It goes straight into our drinking water sources. It is important to know that the City of Rome and Floyd County do not have a stormwater treatment plant. Because we operate as an MS4 municipality, any litter, motor oil, or debris washed into our storm drains bypasses any filtration and discharges directly into our local rivers and waterways within the Coosa River Basin. This is why our street cleanups and river initiatives (like Paddle Georgia) are so critical!

How do I report a heavily littered area or graffiti that needs to be cleaned up?

You can contact our office directly! We use a dedicated GIS Litter Index Tool to map and track litter trends across the city and county, allowing us to deploy volunteer groups and resources to the areas that need them most. For graffiti removal, we can also supply paint and materials to volunteer teams looking to help beautify public spaces.

How do I submit a tree-related work order within the City of Rome?

For all public tree issues inside the city limits—including hanging limbs, dead trees in the right-of-way, or roots damaging city sidewalks—you must contact the City of Rome Public Works Division.

The Streets, Drainage, and Urban Forestry Department manages these requests. You can submit a work order by calling them directly:

City of Rome Public Works (Streets & Urban Forestry): (706) 236-4585

How do I submit a tree-related work order within Floyd County (outside city limits)?

If you spot a downed tree blocking a county road, or a dead hazard tree within the county right-of-way, you must file a work order with the Floyd County Public Works Department. You can reach their main office and routing desk at: Floyd County Public Works Main Office: (706) 236-2495.
